Their first EP\, “Moto\,” was an ode to this raw energy. Their debut album\, “Kiniata\,” released earlier this year\, is also a celebration of city life and Congolese traditions\, emphasized by the use of Lingala in lyrics that describe the struggles\, hopes\, and triumphs of everyday life. “Kiniata” is rooted in a strong heritage that they modernize to create something entirely new. Their frenetic rhythms and captivating melodies owe a debt to the rebellious spirit of Article 15 (“find your own way”). The soul of Kinshasa resonates in every note\, every recycled percussion beat\, every electric riff.
